This workshop is designed to present the basic techniques of psychodynamic work for both the beginner and the advanced practitioner. Based on Dr. Fink’s new book, Fundamentals of Psychoanalytic Technique, the workshop will cover such topics as how to listen to patients and then ask questions and emphasize certain parts of the patient’s discourse in the treatment. We will also review interpretation and the work of dreams and fantasy in the technique. The morning will begin with a video conference link with three other sites affiliated with the International Psychotherapy Institute. This video link session will focus on the uniquely Lacanian technique of the variable length session. The day will end with the presentation and discussion of material from an ongoing psychoanalysis by Dr. Anderson to Dr. Fink and the audience.
